Rationale
“SUPER-IRNET” is a JSPS Core-to-Core Program officially entitled “International research network toward the era of deep and wide near-infrared survey of the universe with space and ground-based telescopes.” The program aims to advance wide-field infrared astronomy through the 2020s and beyond. The key pillars of SUPER-IRNET are: (1) the Euclid–Subaru synergy, (2) the Roman–Subaru synergy, and (3) the development of ULTIMATE-Subaru, the next-generation wide-field ground-layer adaptive optics system. In addition, the network fosters collaborations between these major facilities and other unique wide-field near-infrared projects led by Japanese universities, such as SWIMS on the TAO telescope in Chile (University of Tokyo) and the PRIME telescope in South Africa (University of Osaka).
Over the past five years, SUPER-IRNET has played a central role in connecting researchers and promoting scientific collaboration among these S-U-P-E-R facilities—SWIMS, ULTIMATE, PRIME, Euclid, and Roman. As the grand finale of this highly successful program, we gather not only to celebrate our achievements, but also to carry forward the momentum we have built, exploring new opportunities and envisioning the next phase of collaboration in wide-field infrared astronomy.
Important Dates
- Nov 21: 1st announcement, website & registration open- Jan 15: Deadline for registration with presentation & travel support
- Feb 5: 2nd announcement with workshop program
- Feb 25: Deadline for registration without presentation
- March 6: Final announcement
- March 16: Workshop start
Preliminary Program
The workshop is tentatively scheduled from the afternoon of March 16 to around noon on March 19, with a banquet planned for the evening of March 17 (to be held in the same building as the workshop). Please note that the exact starting and ending times may be adjusted depending on the number of presentations.Science topics
The original scientific motivation of SUPER-IRNET encompasses (1) cosmology, (2) galaxy and black hole formation, (3) time-domain astronomy, (4) galactic-center observations, and (5) the development of adaptive optics. We also warmly welcome contributions on any scientific or instrumental topics that advance wide-field infrared astronomy, including related theoretical, observational, and technical developments.Confirmed Speakers
TBARegistration and Presentation
Please complete the registration from the URL below. We encourage any presentation related to near-infrared, wide-field observational astronomy (science and instrumentation). While the SUPER-IRNET program is operated by our five partner countries (Japan, USA, France, Australia, Taiwan), we do not restrict the participants to those partner countries. Because of the limited oral presentation slots, we may not be able to accept all presentation requests. The deadline for presentation and travel support is January 15th. The registration deadline without presentation is February 25th.Registration Form
Registration Fee
There is no registration fee for the workshop. Light refreshments will be provided with support from SUPER-IRNET. Only the banquet fee (10,000 JPY for staff / 7,000 JPY for students) will be collected in advance via credit card payment.Special Session
As in our previous workshops, we will feature a special session, “Leadership & Career Path”, focusing on how young researchers can build their careers and take leading roles in international collaborations. Join us to hear inspiring stories, practical advice, and open discussions from experienced scientists on how to navigate your research journey and shape your own future in astronomy.Remote Participation
In principle, the workshop will be held on-site only, and online participation will not be offered. However, in exceptional cases where travel is extremely difficult due to special circumstances, limited online participation may be considered upon request.Travel Support
SUPER-IRNET can support travel expenses for SUPER-IRNET members in Japanese institutes. If you need financial support, please request in the registration form above. For participants from outside Japan, please contact your regional PIs if you need travel support.Organizing Committee
